The Deep.
We approach the end of
the story, so everything is ruthlessly simplified.
Blockbuster and his men
(whom Electrocutioner also connects) arrive to the submarine which is the final
hiding place of Oracle.
The cat-and-mouse game
begins. Oracle always dodges the clutches of his pursuers, but she is always
gotten in worse situation. She is trying to defend herself by smoke bomb
firstly and sinking the submarine. Finally, she takes care of the intruders,
but she is shot,
and the submarine is
sinking.
But fortunately, Black
Canary arrives and rescues her (they meet each other in person for the first
time),
then she gives up
herself as Oracle.
Nightwing and the
others arrive late in the epilogue.
This submariner
pursuit should have been very exciting in principle, but this hasn’t been it
especially through an entire booklet. I do not really understand Chuck Dixon's
story writing technique, why does he need to over-simplify a complicated story
with many threads at the end? Thus it is nadir instead of zenith. Butch Guice
is not able to raise the standard of the booklet by his draws.
Oh yeah. Furthermore,
I think that Oracle and Black Canary first personal encounter rather gets lost,
but this is a milestone in the team history: from now they will be real
friends. It appears so casually that I almost forgot about it.
