Although the Batgirl booklets were not included in the Officer Down
story stream, it is pretty clear already from the front page that this issue is
also related to the story.
By way of introduction to the story that the current
(well, it was current in 2001) Batgirl is Cassandra Cain (she replaces Batman as
Black Bat a time too). In heavy rain, Batgirl watches an apartment from
fire escape, where she looks TV report about the assassination against
Commissioner Gordon.
Let's go to the spot which is full of puzzled policemen. Let's go to the
Bat Cave, but Batman is in action. So let's
go to Commissioner Gordon's office, in here she learns from the radio market
that Catwoman is suspected. Let's go to Oracle's hideout in Gotham
clock tower. But Oracle is anywhere (she is at her stepfather in the hospital).
Never mind, because Catwoman has access to the system too, so she finds
Catwoman's possible addresses. Mostly those are abandoned for years, and the in
last one too, the thick dust is untouched. In addition, each is filled with disguised
traps.
Chuck Dixon's story is really nothingness, Batgirl does nothing but she
wanders unsuccessfully, she constantly draws a blank. If they had really wanted
it, they could do the whole thing in two frames. Dale Eaglesham's draws are
nice and cozy, it greatly recovers the lack of plot.
