It increases the hairy situation which has started
in the previous issue when gorillas of Gorilla City
rush our heroes.
Gorilla Grimm is immediately wounded and captured
and the rest flee. The girls, Black Canary and Lady Vic are separated from
Deathstroke. Oracle advises to Dinah that they surround themselves (in the
background, Ted Kord aka Blue Beetle is whining). She argues that they have the
ace of spade, Deathstroke, they pass him to the gorilla king, Grodd, or they
keep quiet about him and they trust him to save them (the girls).
Lady Vic does not consider this a good idea, so
Black Cabary knocks her. (Incidentally, I think Lady Vic is right because
Oracle's arguments are not very convincing about Deathstroke). Thereafter Black
Canary and Lady Vic arrive to Gorilla
City as prisoners of the
gorillas. It turns out that huge transmission towers can help make invisible
the before the satellites. And, of course, the radio connection is lost to
Oracle when they cross the border. Oracle decides to call upon the light
cavalry, but, unlike Ted Kord's advice, she doesn't call some Justice
Something, but Blockbuster for help (it is logically, they are saving his
life).
Meanwhile, Dinah is taken before King Grodd's feet.
She doesn't spit Deathstroke, but she pointed out that Blockbuster needs
a right gorilla heart for much money. It is confirmed by Gorilla Grimm who has
recovered. Grodd thinks tempting the offer, but he throws everyone in prison.
But never mind, because Deathstroke is still free.
It runs out the soufflé from Chuck Dixon's story in the middle, so the
plot sits down. In addition, you can read Ted Kord's lamentation instead of
Dinah's punch lines for placeholders. It's hard to believe that this gutless
loser is a superhero.
Butch Guice's draws are still pretty bad, but as I have noticed some
improvement in facial expressions. Fortunately, it is no sign the schematic
draws from the previous issue, so it was clearly a sign of slapdash work. The
coloring is also improved (although it is still made by Shannon Blanchard), but
these pink laser rays are very rough:
