Joker: Last Laugh - Rating

The story was portrayed in five (plus one) one-half length issues, and though it was not in the story so much, Chuck Dixon relatively successful compensates that the plot has turned into uninteresting by lot of threads and jokes. The real curse of such stories is that after the ambitious beginning, it turns into total mediocrity at the end. But fortunately this did not happen.

Although the global events eventually shrank to Gotham and were reduced a Batman (and others) vs. Joker clashes, they still managed to find a good completion. And if that would have allowed Chuck Dixon to successfully achieve Joker's plan, it could be a real milestone in the life of Batman Family. Scott Beatty's main thread: Shilo and Dina with the slab stuck (literally) in the middle of the nothing was also pretty enjoyable, the only problem that it was completely unnecessary.

The level of lot of Tie in was quite variable, but the vast majority was alibi issue. There were some unacceptable crap and roughly the same amount of good as well. The general problem was that their authors were not really informed about the progress of the main story, so it real contradictions occurred. Just Chuck Dixon's issues were fit well in the mainstream. Moreover, these issues expanded a by thread, in principle. But Chuck Dixon had not enough energy for this, so this were meaningless crap with deteriorating standards.

Joker: Last Laugh 06 - You Only Laughs Twice!

I Win!

And so, we arrive to the end of our endless crossover.

Action Comics 784 - Whose mind is it anyway?

In funniest day, in craziest night!

Clark Kent and Lois Lane have just decided to never come out of their rooms but rather occupy themselves with each other.

Batman 596 - City on Fire

Joker has unleashed the jokerized mentals of Arkham Asylum to Gotham.

Justice League of America 059 - Bipolar Disorder

The Chilling Joke.

The jokerized Dr Polaris moves the magnetic axis of the earth to cause amazing weather anomalies

Robin 095 - Book of Dead

Croc Attack!

Joker and Rancor are waiting to Batman in Gotham Cathedral, while they are dreaming how they will kill the whole bat team.

Batman and Spoiler join to Huntress in the basement/dungeon of Arkham Asylum. They examine Robin's ripped clothes with which is associated a skull too soon. It's time for a little schmooze, when they are attacked by Mr. Zsasz who is beaten by them jointly and it immediately alleviates their grief.

In the Cathedral, Joker presents his battle plan to the rest of Super Evil (Cheerleader: Rancor) but it is only joking. During the dog walking, Alfred is talking th the pastor about that he didn't see Timothy Drake (Robin in civil) for days. Oracle and Blue Beetle are mourning of Robin in the Gotham Clock Tower, when the aforementioned arrives and tells the story of what happened. Well, it was nothing special, just he escaped from Killer Croc who could just rip off his shirt, and the skull was someone else's skull. Meanwhile the police invade the basement/dungeon of Arkham Asylum arrest Killer Croc and Mr. Zsasz and are joking about the skeletons found there. (Republican or Democrat?) Blue Beetle takes Robin to the cathedral to appease the anxious Batman because Joker somehow blocks the radio signal. Meanwhile, Nightwing throws himself into action.

Chuck Dixon's story is flat, uninteresting and boring. In addition, it is falling apart to few paged episodes which relate to each other just in principle. A few alibi action can't help it. Jeff Parker's simple, few lined draws evoke the silver age.

The facial expressions sometimes are better

sometimes are terribly lame.

My favorite is Joker's grotesque face.

Service Message: Mammoth, Warp, Copperhead, and Hellgrammite also attend on the military council.

Joker: Last Laugh 04 - Everyone knows this is nowhere

Because the story began to flatten out in the previous issue, so Chuck Dixon suddenly divids the plot into five threads.

Detective Comics 763 - La Cucilla

This story is an adventure of Sasha Bordeaux, Bruce Wayne's bodyguard who operates as a super heroine at Batman's side.

Joker: Last Laugh 03 - Lunatic Fringee

Why isn't this man smiling?

So let back to the mainstream.

Nightwing 062 - Midnight Madness

The Slab under Siege!

Now you can find out what happened after that Nightwing had penetrated into the slab

Gotham Knights 022 - Bugged Out

For introduction, it's a few word about one of the main characters in the story: Stephanie Brown is a teenage girl and an amateur superhero under the name of Spoiler. She hangs on together mostly with Robin (Tim Drake). She will be Robin and Batgirl too. If my blog will go long time, we will meet her good many times.

Joker: Last Laugh 02 - Siege Mentality

Return to the main story. We left it that the prison rebellion was successful, but they have not been able to break out of the Slab, but the all super evil is Jokerized. Black Canary has penetrated into the Slab, Blue Beetle covers her from the outside and Batman has appeared at the scene. Oracle and Nightwing have only recently learned of the developments. Shilo and Dina are trying to get out of the Slab.

Joker: Last Laugh 01 - Stir Crazy

Nightwing and Oracle are still dating so they know nothing about the broken out rebellion.

Gotham Knights 013 - Officer Down 07

The End.

So we come to the end of the story. The assassin, Jordan Reynolds is free,

Detective Comics 754 - Officer Down 06

Monster in a Box.

So now the cops know who the perpetrator too,

Nightwing 053 - Officer Down 05

Inculpatory.

Nightwing takes the found gun to Barbara.

Catwoman 090 - Officer Down 04

Smoking Gun.

Our heroes (Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Azrael) start again the chase of Catwoman on the basis of information which they received from Harley Quinn.

Birds of Prey v1 027 - Officer Down 03

Armed and Dangerous.

So the superhero squad (Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Azrael, and Oracle) has gathered at Gordon's bed.

Robin 086 - Officer Down 02

Behind the Lines.

The story which has begun at pages of Batman, it is continuing at pages of Robin.

Batman v1 587 - Officer Down 01

These are your Rights.

Well, again it's not a Birds of Prey issue, which means that our team is in a crossover event again. In this case, it is a seven-piece story which runs through the booklets of Batman family 2001. Let's go.
