Running of Fumes!
The title character, Impulse is a sort of Kid
Flash (i.e. zippy), he is the member of the Junior League, the Young Justice
(that's instead of / in addition to the Teen Titans). However, he is not the
main character,
because, as I mentioned earlier, he has just retired thanks to
fear of Death to collect on the Apokolips. So the protagonist is Impulse's
stepfather, Max Mercury who is a kind of ancient flash (doyen of the Flashes).
You can slowly know Mercury's common identity. You can find out why Impulse left
the superhero life, and you can see that he are trying to live our daily lives.
And it is passed half of this booklet. You can finally know the antagonist,
Clarence who was etherized during an experiment against caner which gone wrong.
He picked up the name of Mr. Ether and became
super evil. On a couple of pages, you can see Mercury to fight against him and
finally to got him in a hermetically sealed cell of Slab.
But now, he is freed and moreover he is
Jokerized. (I'm so curious as to how he could breathe the Joker venom when he
is ethereal). Ether becomes so hardened to throw himself into the lungs of
Mercury who can not get any air.
Fortunately, by his final power, he can run to
Ether's cell and blows him into there.
конец.
Todd Dezago bases pleasantly boring the story
with lot of narration. He thoroughly presents the protagonist, the antagonist
and he has yet a few pages for Impulse. As a result, however, the main story
remains no more a couple of pages. But really, it is no more in the story. The
simplicity and stupidity of the story recall the silver age for me. Aluir Amancio's draws are sufficiently simple and specifically fit for the comics to
intend for younger age group. His pictures are static rather than dynamic which
is somewhat surprising for a comic book about superfast superheroes. in facial
expressions, he hasn't got lot of variety, but it's not that bad. Because the
simplicity of the story, it was more or less enough.
